Get an experienced engineer's eyes on what you built with AI.
I'm Tristan Barrow, a software engineer with ten years of experience. I meet one-to-one with people who've built something with AI tools and want it checked for security, scale and structure before it carries real users.

How coaching works
Each session is an hour, on a video call or in person, just you and me. You bring the codebase and a question, such as whether it's safe to launch, why it slows down under load, or whether to restructure it before it grows. We work through it on your code.
- Security
- Who can read what, where your keys live, and what your dependencies pull in.
- Scale
- What happens to your database and your bill when traffic goes up tenfold.
- Architecture
- Which early decisions will be expensive to undo, and which you can leave alone.
- AI-written code
- Reading code you didn't write line by line, and deciding what to keep.
$200 per one-hour session
Before any paid session there's a free 30-minute call, so we can both check it's a good fit. Sessions are booked one at a time, with no package to buy.
On the name
Robur Ignis: the strength to withstand the fire.
Robur is Latin for oak, the hard timber the Romans also used as their word for strength. It's where the English word robust comes from. Ignis is fire.
I chose it because it describes the work. Software built quickly has to survive real users, real traffic and people actively trying to break it, and my job is to help yours hold up when that happens.
About me
I'm Tristan Barrow. I've spent ten years building production software. Robur Ignis is my own practice, so the person on the intro call is the person you'll work with in every session.
I use AI tools every day, and they've changed how fast I can build. They're also confidently wrong often enough that someone has to check the decisions that matter, like how users sign in or what happens when two requests arrive at once. Knowing where to look is most of what I teach.
